Overview

Trion EST-1002-6-2 Steam Cylinder Assembly 3 phase power required. Rated at 60 to 100 pounds of steam per hour. Two of these are used on units for up to 250 pounds of steam per hour.

Steam Generation

When the electrodes come in contact with the water, the current flows between the electrodes, producing heat. As the water level rises, more areas of the electrode are submerged. This results in more current being drawn in. Once the water has begun boiling, steam will then be produced. (On first startup conductivity level of the water is low, it could take 30-60 minutes for water to heat up enough to produce steam).

When the steam output reaches the desired level, the fill valve will close. As water is evaporated, current and water levels drop. When the current drops below a certain percentage of the desired level, the fill valve opens to raise the water level and the current to maintain the requested steam output level.

If the actual output is larger than the desired steam output, the fill valve remains closed until the requested output level is gained through a slow lowering of the water level due to evaporation.

Maintenance

The cylinder is typically changed once a year or 500-2000 hours of operation, depending on the quality of the fill water supply. There is no need to take it apart and clean it once the unit service light comes on just replace the old cylinder with a new OEM Trion steam cylinder.
